Understanding How Owner’s Use Works

If you are interested in Charter Yacht Ownership, then you’ve probably already come across our Owner Privilege Table. This is the table that our owners can reference as it relates to destinations, the points system and when high and low seasons fall.

At first glance, it can look a bit complicated, but with a bit of guidance it’s actually very straightforward.

How many points do I get each year?

Each calendar year, owners receive 42 points for advance bookings and 42 points for short‑notice bookings. The columns on the far right of the table explain what counts as “short notice” for each destination.

On the table you’ll see:

In high season, you use two points per day. In low season, you use one point per day. In practice, that means if you booked all your time in low season, you could spend up to 12 weeks per year on your yacht and sister ships. There are no blackout dates, so you’re free to use your points at any time of year, including Christmas and New Year.

Where can I use sister ships?

The left‑hand column of the Owner Privilege Table lists all the countries and bases where you have reciprocal use of your own boat or a sister ship. For example, if you own a yacht in Belize, you have full reciprocal use of a similar size and group yacht in the Bahamas, BVI, Croatia, Greece, Thailand, Tahiti and all the other countries shown in that column.

You’ll also notice both Sunsail and The Moorings bases on the chart. As a Sunsail owner, you can book a Moorings yacht of similar size and group at no extra charge.

How do I see high and low seasons for each base?

Along the top of the table, the months from January to December are laid out.

In the Caribbean (including BVI, St Martin, St Lucia, Grenada and Belize), high season runs from 16 December to 15 April, when you’ll use two points per day. Low season runs from 16 April to 15 December, when you’ll use one point per day.

For Mediterranean destinations you’ll see a grey band from 1 December to 28 February, indicating those bases are closed over winter.
